Vintage Univox Hi-Flier Phase II U1802B Bass – White – Made in Japan – Early 1970s
Up for sale is a vintage Japanese-made Univox Hi-Flier Phase II bass, model U1802B, finished in white.
This is an early-1970s example featuring the classic raised Univox headstock badge, dual single-coil pickups, three-way pickup selector, Volume and Tone controls, rosewood fingerboard, and distinctive Mosrite-inspired Hi-Flier body shape.
Serial Number: 0127256
The electronics work as they should. Both pickups, the selector switch, Volume control, and Tone control are functional.
The tuning machines are 100% original. The headstock has never been broken or repaired, and there are no known structural cracks or repairs.
The body is in very good overall condition considering its age. There are no major chips or dings, and the body does not appear to have been refinished. It shows normal cosmetic wear consistent with a vintage instrument.
There is what appears to be a finish flaw on the back of the neck. It is very difficult to capture clearly in photographs. This appears to be cosmetic only. There is no break, crack, or previous neck repair.
Please note:
• Missing the truss rod cover
• Missing the original bridge ashtray/bridge cover
• Normal age-related wear and oxidation to the hardware
• Finish flaw on the back of the neck as described above
• No known headstock or neck repairs
• Original tuning machines
• Electronics function properly
A gig bag is included with the bass.
The instrument will be carefully packed with additional protective packing materials for shipment. Shipping insurance is also included in the purchase price for added protection during transit.
Overall, this is a great example of an early Univox Hi-Flier bass with plenty of original vintage character. These Japanese-made Univox instruments have developed a following among collectors and players because of their unique styling, distinctive pickups, and unmistakable early-'70s character.
The bass is being sold as pictured. Please review all photographs carefully for cosmetic condition.
